How to Play All at Once

Game guides ยท Updated

Every other party game has an audience: one person does the thing while the rest watch. All at Once removes the audience. The room is matched into groups, everyone picks one thing to do, and a single timer runs for all of you together. Nobody watches, so nobody is on the spot.

How a round works

  1. Tap Match everyone. The room is grouped in pairs, using the same rules as Mix & Match
  2. Two options appear. The room picks one, and every group does its own version of it
  3. One shared timer runs for everyone
  4. When it ends, choose: Do that one again, Next for a fresh pair of options, or Reshuffle for new pairings

With exactly two players there is nothing to match, so it goes straight to the options.

Why nobody is watching matters

Doing something private in company is a specific pleasure, and it only works if everyone is doing it. The moment one pair stops to watch another, the game becomes a performance and the shyer half of the room goes quiet. So the design keeps everyone busy at once, and the timer is a shared heartbeat rather than a stopwatch: when it runs, the whole room is inside the same minute.

The options are sideways, not up

The two options at each round are different in kind at the same heat. Mouths, hands, words. Picking one is a matter of taste rather than nerve, so nobody choosing the second option is confessing they wanted less. This is the design decision that keeps the game safe: the app deals the choice, and the room decides.

Say the pick out loud. One person reads the two options to the room, the room picks, and then the timer starts. A round chosen in silence off one screen is a round half the room did not agree to.

Levels, limits and climbing

All at Once has four intensity levels on the same dial as every other game, and each level is a pool of a dozen acts rather than a fixed ladder. A player's own comfort level moves their group rather than the room: a pair with someone capped at Playful gets Playful options while the rest of the room plays Spicy. Options ruled out by anyone's limits are never shown, so nobody has to decline anything in front of the room.

Nothing advances on its own. The timer ending offers the same act again, a fresh pair of options, or a reshuffle, and the intensity dial is the room's to turn. Climbing is a room decision, every time.

Reshuffle whenever you like

The thing people actually use most is the reshuffle, and it is never more than one tap away. New pairs, same level, same act if you want it. The hours in this game are in revisiting the same level with a new pairing, not in racing to the top.

All at Once, answered

How many players does All at Once need?

Two or more. It works for a couple, where it is a timed round of whatever you pick, and it works for a full room, where the pairing and the reshuffle become the game.

What if we do not want either option?

Tap Other options for a different pair, or Reshuffle for new groups. Every prompt in Spice Up can be passed, and the safe word in the header ends anything at any time.

Does it respect who I am into?

Yes. Pairs are drawn from who each player is into and everyone's off-limits list, the same way Mix & Match does it. If no compatible arrangement exists the app says so and offers a way through.

Can groups be bigger than two?

The game matches in pairs by default, and folds any odd player into a three rather than leaving them out.

Play it now

Everything above is built into All at Once in the app. It handles the order, the intensity and who goes next, so nobody has to keep track.
