How to Play Slow Burn
Slow Burn is the one game on Spice Up where you do not have to steer. You pick where to start, and the app tells the evening as a story: a few minutes of talking, then a dare or two, then touch, and then, when you are both ready, the same again a notch hotter. Leave the night to us, and spend it on each other instead of on the phone.
Play Slow BurnHow the story is told
Every level has three chapters, always in the same order:
- Talk: things said out loud. What you noticed, what you like, what you want
- Dare: something done in front of each other. A look held too long, a slow dance, something coming off
- Touch: the two of you in contact, from fingers in hair at Gentle to anything you both want at Wild
Each chapter opens with a line of story, then deals three to five cards. You take turns: one of you reads a card to the other and does what it says, then the next card is the other person's.
How a night goes
- The first card is not a prompt. It asks you to get comfortable together: sit close, top up the drinks, lights down, phones on silent. Tap We're comfortable when you are
- Talk, then Dare, then Touch. At the end of each chapter a slip above the button asks if you want to turn the page
- After Touch it asks the bigger question: ready to take it up a notch? Yes starts again at Talk, one level hotter
- When the last chapter is done the book closes with one line: now you take it from here. Enjoy
The four levels
- Gentle: clothed and unhurried, but unmistakably two people who want each other. Talking about sex lightly is fine here
- Playful: proper kisses, hands over clothes and on bare backs and legs, a thing or two coming off
- Spicy: undressing fully, hands and mouths on bare skin, and saying exactly what you want
- Wild: explicit and unfiltered. Anything done to the other person starts with asking, and only goes ahead if you both want it
You can start on any level with the heat strip at the top, and move it mid-story. The story jumps to that level and keeps its place in the chapter order.
Playing it as a group
Slow Burn is written for two people who are into each other, and a bigger group plays it in pairs. The first card speaks to everyone. Then each chapter goes to one pair who are into each other, named above the chapter's first card, and the next chapter goes to another pair. Everyone else gets the best seats.
Limits and comfort levels
Slow Burn reads the same Player settings as every other game. A card that touches a limit either of you set is never dealt to you, and a player who capped themselves at Playful is dealt Playful even when the strip says Wild. The safe word stays in the header all night, and it ends anything at any time.
Slow Burn, answered
Does it get hotter on its own?
No. It asks at the end of every level, and a no just means more cards where you are. It never moves up without one of you tapping yes.
How long does a night take?
A level is about a dozen cards. Saying yes every time from Gentle reaches the last page in roughly forty to sixty cards, and you can stay on any level as long as you like.
What if we stop halfway?
Then you stop. Close the book whenever you want, or just put the phone down. If the page reloads by accident, the story picks up on the card you were on.
Can we play in Spanish, French, Portuguese, Italian or German?
Yes. Every card and every line of story is written in all six languages. Switch with the language button at the top of the games.

Everything above is built into Slow Burn in the app. It handles the order, the intensity and who goes next, so nobody has to keep track.
