Truth or Dare questions, answered

What are the rules of Truth or Dare for adults?

Players take turns. On your turn the group asks you "truth or dare", you pick one, and you either answer the question honestly or complete the dare. If you pass, you take an agreed forfeit. Everyone can pass at any point, and nobody has to explain why.

How many people do you need to play Truth or Dare?

Two is enough. Three or more gives the group more to work with, because dares can involve other players and truths get harder to dodge. Above about eight, split into two groups so turns come round often enough to keep everyone in it.

What is a good truth question for adults?

A good truth is specific, answerable in one story, and about the person answering rather than about ranking anyone else. "What is the boldest thing you have done to flirt with someone?" works. Anything that asks a player to rate the people in the room does not, because it leaves someone at the bottom.

How do you make Truth or Dare spicy without it going too far?

Move up one level at a time and agree a stopping point before you start. Set a safe word, make passing free, and let the group decide together when to move from Playful to Spicy. Escalation you agreed to in advance almost never goes too far. Escalation nobody planned usually does.

Can you play Truth or Dare with just two people?

Yes, and it plays quite differently. With two people the truths land harder and the dares get more intimate, because there is no group to hide behind. Couples games generally work better at the Playful and Spicy levels than at Wild.
