Write Your Own Cards, and What Else Is New
Some of the best messages we get are not ideas for the deck at all. They are a room, mid-evening, typing what they want to happen next into the only box the game gave them, and waiting for it to come up. It never did, because a suggestion reaches us days later. So now you can write it yourself, and it is dealt next.
Write your own cardWrite your own card
In Temptation and Who Does What, tap Write your own card under the game. A sheet comes up that builds the card in a few taps:
- Who is in it? One of you, two of you, three of you, or write it yourself.
- Who. Whoever is up, or tap a name.
- Does what. Type it: "sits on the lap of", "slowly undresses", "kisses".
- To who. Someone they are into, or tap a name. A card for three asks for one more.
- And then. The end of the sentence, if it needs one: "and whispers what they want tonight".
As you go, the sheet reads the card back to you, so you can see "Jo sits on the lap of someone they are into and whispers what they want tonight" before you deal it. Tap Deal it next and the next card off the deck is yours, marked House card, with a dashed border so nobody mistakes it for one of ours.
Let the game pick who
Leave a name open and the game fills it in when the card is dealt, the same way it fills in its own cards. Whoever is up goes first, and the card counts as their turn. "Someone they are into" is someone they are into who is into them too, and never a pair you have marked as off-limits. The same card works for any two people in the room, all night, without anyone being named in front of everyone.
Pick names on purpose and the card keeps them, even two people the game would not have put together. You know your room better than we do.
If nobody in the room can play a card the way it is written, the sheet tells you while you can still change it, rather than dealing something nobody can do.
Your card, your call
The game cannot read a card it did not write, so it cannot check it against anyone's limits or comfort level the way it checks its own. Write it together, and only write what everyone it could land on is up for. Like every card in Spice Up, it can be passed, and the safe word is on screen the whole time.
A copy of every card you write comes to us, as you wrote it and with how your room is set up, so we can read it. The good ones go into the deck for everyone, and if one of yours turns up in a future game, that is where it came from. Your cards are forgotten on the phone when the group changes.
The suggest link says what it is for
The line under each game used to ask "Got a prompt or a game idea?", which read, fairly, like a request box. It now says send us an idea, and the form says what happens: we read every one, and the best go into the deck for everyone later. For tonight, write your own.
Also new this month
- Better forfeits in Truth or Dare and Never Have I Ever. Switch them on and they come from the Forfeits deck: strip, kiss, dare, confess or a drink. They follow the level on the dial, so Gentle stays clothed, and they respect everyone's limits.
- See what is in each game. Every game on the picker says what it deals in a word or three, like Talk, Kiss, Strip or Drink, so you can find the kissing, the undressing or the drinking without opening every box.
- Forfeits plays on its own. No Jenga to hand? Take turns tapping a name and pay what it deals.
- Phones out. New cards in four games about the pictures on your phone, only ever of you, chosen by you, and the phone stays in your hand.
Everything else that changed is on What's New.
Questions, answered
Can I write my own cards in Spice Up?
Yes. In Temptation and Who Does What, tap Write your own card under the game, pick who it is for and what they do, and it is dealt next.
Do I have to use people's names?
No. Leave who and to who open and the game picks: whoever is up, and someone they are into who is into them too. Or tap a name to choose.
Does Spice Up check my own cards against our limits?
It cannot, because it cannot read a card it did not write. Write it together, only what everyone it could land on is up for, and remember any card can be passed.
Who sees the cards I write?
The room you are playing with, when it is dealt, and us: a copy comes to us so the best ones can go into the deck for everyone.

Everything above is built into Temptation in the app. It handles the order, the intensity and who goes next, so nobody has to keep track.
